On Tuesday August 17th, Wanis was delighted to welcome the newly appointed Mayor of Waltham Forest, Cllr Elizabeth Baptise, and her Youth Mayor Team (YMT) to our Leyton headquarters for a guided tour, offering them some insights into the business of World Foods.
The tour began with an introduction to our key brands by Operations Director Alam Ameer, moving onto an overview of import processes by Commercial Director George Phillips and concluding with insights into food labelling by Quality Control Manager Emma Ashton Oner.
Cllr Baptiste was particularly delighted to see the Caribbean Tortuga rum cake on the Wanis shelves. A brand loved by Caribbean shoppers nationwide, Tortuga cakes are not always easy to find in local stores, so we were truly delighted to witness the Mayor’s joyful surprise in person.
During the visit, Wanis pledged to support the Mayor’s chosen charity: the Sickle Cell Society, details of which will be announced in a blog in the near future.
